Stipendium Hungaricum

What is Stipendium Hungaricum?

Stipendium Hungaricum is a state scholarship program of Hungary. It is available to foreign students at all levels of education, as well as for part-time and non-degree programs. The scholarship covers all tuition fees and includes monthly stipends.

Students from 90 countries are eligible for Stipendium Hungaricum, and each country has a sending organization that partners with the program. In Russia, this partner organization is the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

There are over 600 higher education programs and preparatory courses available in 28 Hungarian universities. The available scholarships may also depend on the applicant's country of origin.

Stipendium Hungaricum covers the following:

·         Tuition fees.

·         Free accommodation in a dormitory or a monthly allowance of $111 for rent.

·         Medical services.

In addition, Stipendium Hungaricum recipients receive a monthly allowance of $121 for personal expenses throughout the entire duration of their studies.

Doctoral students receive $111 per month for the first four semesters of study. Afterward, the monthly allowance increases to $499 until the end of their studies.

Stipendium Hungaricum is considered a full-coverage scholarship. However, the monthly allowances may not be sufficient if you plan to live in a major city in Hungary. For example, the average cost of living per month in Budapest is around $724, while in Debrecen, it is approximately $591. Therefore, scholarship recipients may still need additional sources of funding.

Requirements

The scholarship competition is open to prospective bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students at Hungarian universities, as well as students in part-time programs for these degrees. Furthermore, the language of instruction can be either English, Hungarian, French, or German.

You need to submit two applications: one to the scholarship partner organization in your country and the other to the Tempus Foundation. All documents must be submitted electronically. For the Hungarian side, documents should also be translated into English and notarized.
