This is the first book in which for the first time valuable historical materials are presented for the 85-year history of the instrument's appearance. It tells about the history of the appearance of the instrument, about the very first manufacturers thereof, the first performers and its traversed path. All materials were obtained through the author’s long research work. The bass dombra was first used in Kurmangazy National Instruments Orchestra in 1935. This is the merit of the outstanding composer, academician Akhmet Zhubanov. The role of the instrument is to combine the basic harmony sounds in the lower register of the orchestra and complement the structure of the piece of music. The instrument entered the educational process as a separate specialty in 1950.
The purpose of the presentation is to popularize the instrument, rethink its history, and convey its significance to the younger generation and to determine the role of the bass dombra in the orchestra of national instruments.
