Artist Nariman Karazhigitov Passed Away

The Rector and the staff of Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory with deep sorrow express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the famous opera singer, People's Artist of Kazakhstan, Karazhigitov, Nariman Nurmukhamedovich in connection with his death.

Nariman Nurmukhamedovich was born in the Karakemer village, Enbekshikazakh district, Almaty region, in 1934. He had a strong craving for art and singing as a child. In 1958, N.Karazhigitov entered the Almaty State Conservatory, the Solo Singing Department in the class of the legendary singer Beken Zhylysbayev. After graduating from the Conservatory in 1965, he was admitted to the Abai Opera and Ballet Theater as a soloist. So, he forever linked his life with art. Possessing incredible voice power, the lyric-dramatic tenor performed many vivid roles and became widely known and appreciated by the public.

Nariman Karazhigitov devoted many years of his life to teaching at the Folk Music faculty at Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory. Among the graduates there are many talented personalities and singers such as People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gafiz Yesimov, Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the late Bakhytzhan Yskakov, soloist of the Dos-Mukasan ensemble Murat Kusainov and others. We sincerely share the bitterness of this heavy and irreplaceable loss.
