Doctoral student, Asel Imae participated in the offline and online public discussions of the Creative Industries Development Concept for Kazakhstan

The year II doctoral student, Asel Imae (Art Management) participated in the offline and online public discussions of the Creative Industries Development Concept for Kazakhstan on September 16 at the Qaynar bulak site of AlmaU.

The  Creative Industries  Development Concept  was presented at the conference. The document has been developed since April 2021 on behalf of the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Concept developed to date is a single strategic document of intersectoral nature which is interconnected with the State Planning System’s documents. The document defines the vision, basic principles and approaches to development as well as the expected results of the implemented state policy in relation to the creative industries of Kazakhstan.

Creative associations and communities representatives as well as individuals - entrepreneurs and experts in the field of the creative sector were involved in the development of the Concept.

Thus, within the period from  February to  June 2021, doctoral student, Asel Imae participated in a study as part of the Creative Spark project dedicated to study of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on creative industries, in particular in the field of academic art in Kazakhstan.

The aim of the project was to clarify the extent of the negative impact of the pandemic on artists in Kazakhstan. The research resulted in an article published in the MGIMO’s (Moscow State International Relations Institute) "International Processes" publication. The authors identified the problems that arose in connection with quarantine measures, and also recommended  for political structures to consider the forms and measures supporting the academic sector of the music industry in Kazakhstan based on the results of the survey.

According to the presented Creative Industries Development Concept for Kazakhstan, it is also planned to increase the presence of domestic creative entrepreneurs at major international creative competitions, exhibitions, festivals and to contribute to the recognition of the brand of Kazakhstan in the international arena.

A wider range of support tools including the creation of accelerators, creative clusters, grant support as well as strengthening competencies in the field of creative entrepreneurship on the basis of so-called creative service centers for business will be provided in the pilot project mode for creative industries in Nur-Sultan and Almaty.

It is planned to approve the Concept and consolidate it at the legislative level by the end of this year.
