Evening in memory of Bakhtiyar Amanzhol

The evening dedicated to the memory of Bakhtiyar Amanzhol took place in Chopin Chamber Hall of the Kazakh National Conservatory. His colleagues, students from P.Tchaikovsky Almaty Music College and Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory as well as friends who shared their most vivid memories of Bakhtiyar Tutkabayuly and became honored guests of a specially organized concert, came to honor the memory of the composer.

Bakhtiyar Amanzhol, Professor of the Department of Composition and Musicology, an experienced teacher, a bright representative of Kazakhstani musical culture, passed away in August last year.

Bakhtiyar Tutkabayuly Amanzhol graduated from the composer department of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He has been a member of the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan since 1991. His work covered almost all musical genres: symphonic kuis, concertos, suite, sonata, prelude and fugue, a music piece, a vocal cycle, etc. Works for ensembles of various categories, piano, dombra, kobyz, percussion and wind, string instruments, solo and choral singing were written by him. He wrote music to the verses of Kazakh poets such as A.Kunanbaev, O.Suleimenov, M.Zhumabaev, E.Zhapak as well as foreign poets like Omar Khayyam and Garcia Lorca. He became the author of numerous teaching aids and scientific articles. He devoted more than forty years of his life to teaching at the Kazakh National Conservatory, brought up more than one generation of musicians.

Also working at Tchaikovsky Almaty College of Music and K.Baiseitova and A.Zhubanov specialized music schools, he instilled in the younger generation a love of music. Bakhtiyar Tutkabayuly was a true professional who made an invaluable contribution to the development of professional music in Kazakhstan.
