On December 15, 2016 Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory successfully hosted an International scientific-practical conference "Fundamental and applied research of music in the XXI century" dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The conference was attended by 82 people. Representatives of Kurmangazy KNC (Almaty), Moscow Conservatory (Moscow), Azerbaijan (Baku), KazNUA (Astana), K.Bayseitova RSSMBS, Kurmangazy (Uralsk) and Tchaikovsky (Almaty) Music Colleges, T.Zhurgenov KazNAA, Art universities in Belgrade (Serbia) and Lumière in Lyon (France), Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Arts (Russia), and Kazan Federal University (Russia) were among them.
The structure of a plenary session was informal filled with interesting discussions. Special guests of the conference: Doctor of Arts, corresponding member of NAS RK, professor of Auezov Institute of Literature and Art - Sarah Kuzembay (Almaty, Kazakhstan), an authoritative music critic Vadim Zhuravlev (Moscow, Russia), Professor of the Moscow Conservatory, artist-researcher Sergey Nikeshichev (Moscow, Russia), an Associate Professor of the Azerbaijan University, artist-researcher Fazail Orujov (Baku, Azerbaijan), and Ph.D. in Art history Pernebek Shegebayev made presentations.
After the plenary session the conference proceeded by holding sectional listening in the following areas: current problems of musicology; questions of performance and interpretation, history and contemporaneity; theoretical-methodological problems of contemporary music education.
On the eve of the conference, 14 December, a creative meeting was organized with the Ph.D. in Art history, authoritative music critic Vadim Zhuravlev with the intriguing title "Features of opera criticisms today: problems and solutions. In the example of the confrontation between Big and Marinsky Theatres of Russia" Furthermore, M.V.Nikeshichev, Honored Artist of Russia, Professor of Art of Accompaniment at Moscow Conservatory, Chairman of the "Taneev Music Society", and the Laureate of the prize "Golden Knight" held a master class.
The conference ended with a beautiful festive concert in the Grand Organ Hall of the Conservatory, where representatives of the unique Mangystau school - Serzhan Shakratov and Amandyk Komekov, successor of Art of zhyrau - Ulzhan Baibosynova, the brightest performer Arkyn school - Ardak Isatayeva and one of the most trusted carriers of shertpe tradition - Bilal Yskakov showed their performances. Fazail Orujov, who was a special guest of conference, also took part in the concert by presenting Azerbaijani traditional music. Section of academic music was no less attractive since there were performances of: the laureate duo of international competitions - Arman Tleubergenov and Erkebulan Saparbayev, the best Baroque group of the country «D'EL'SA Consort» and audience favorites - Mixed Conservatory Choir under the direction of Jan Rudkovsky.
The conservatory conference demonstrated that scientific events can be exciting, interesting and alive!
