Meeting with Karissa Van Liew: Cultural Exchange and Study of Kazakh Music

On August 29, a meeting took place between the conservatory faculty and Carissa Van Lew from Texas, a music teacher at Kazakhstan International School. The event was organized by the conservatory's international department.
The discussion primarily focused on opportunities for in-depth study of Kazakh musical culture, including ethnic music, the works of zhyrau and akyns, as well as learning to play the dombra. There was particular interest in the idea of sharing the unique expertise of the conservatory’s teachers to support Karissa Van Liew’s project, which aims to promote Kazakh culture among American audiences.
