Meeting with Professor Wiesław Delimat
On February 21, 2024, the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory welcomed an honorary guest from the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow (Krakow, Poland). Professor, organist, conductor, dr. hab. and Head of the Department of Church Music, Wiesław Delimat, visited Kazakhstan for the first time.
At the meeting, the administration of the Conservatory was represented by Galiya Begembetova, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Creative Activities and International Cooperation, deans of all faculties, and Damir Urazymbetov, Head of the International Department.
The meeting was attended by Professor W. Delimat's colleague from the K. Penderetsky Academy of Music, Professor Stanisław Krawczyński. Together with the Honored Artist of Kazakhstan, Professor of the Conservatory Gabit Nesipbayev and the deans of the faculties, they discussed organ art in Kazakhstan and the differences in teaching methods at the Conservatory and the University, about the role of the organ in the church music of Catholic churches.
After the official part Professor W. Delimat conducted a master class titled “The Role of the Organist in the Performance of J. S. Bach's Sacred Music” for students and faculty members in the E. Rakhmadiyev Grand Concert Hall, preceded by a brief lecture on Bach's cantatas. Then he listened to some students and provided them with recommendations.
