The Famous Kobyz Player and Outstanding Teacher Roza Kuspanovna turned 85 years old

Roza Kuspanovna was born on May 20, 1936 in the Karasu village, Furmanovsky district (now the Zhalpak tal village), Ural region.

Roza Kuspanovna was born on May 20, 1936 in the Karasu village, Furmanovsky district (now the Zhalpak tal village), Ural region.
She graduated from the Department of National Instruments, the Almaty State Conservatory, specializing in kobyz, in 1960.
She worked with Kazakhconcert during 1960-1966. She successfully worked at the Conservatory by collecting the treasury of folk music - song and Kui heritage from 1966 to 1975, and at the Lukanovs' ensemble within 1960-1980.
With her direct involvement a kobyz class was opened in S. Prokofiev music school No.3 in Almaty, where for over 41years she was engaged in teaching. Even her retirement did not stop Rosa Kuspanovna from her favorite teaching work.
During her half-century career, she has released more than one generation of musicians and she was able to instill in them not only the instrument playing skills but also high moral principles. Roza Kuspankyzy is the author of a number of books such as "Yqylastyn Kobyzy" (Ykhylas’ kobyz), "Omirim men onerim" (My life and art), "Gasyr uni - Kobyz" (Kobyz as a century’s tune), "Kobyzga arnalgan anthology" (Kobyz Anthology), "Sagynysh" (Melancholy) (music for solo singing).
Her work was deservedly appreciated. She was awarded the "Enbek Ardageri" (Veteran of Work) title in 1985 and the title "Excellent Worker of Public Education Sector of the Kazakh SSR" in 1991, the "the RK Culture Worker" honorary title in 2006 and the "Tulga" order in 2013 for a significant contribution to education of the younger generation and the development of culture and art in Kazakhstan. Also in 2016, on the occasion of her 80th birthday, she was granted the Y.Altynsarin award pin.

People say talent is an innate quality. Thanks to her musical gift, Rosa Kuspankyzy possessed the unsurpassed art of composition. She is the author of such songs as "Kalkam", "Zhazky keshte", "Ak Zhaiyk", "Karyndas", "Kyz Sagynyshy".
