Ulrich Morgenstern’s workshop took place

On December 4, 2024, as part of the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, a workshop was conducted by the esteemed foreign scholar, Doctor of Sciences on Study of Arts (Dr. Hab.), and Professor at the Department of Folk Music Studies and Ethnomusicology at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Ulrich Morgenstern (Vienna, Austria).

The workshop, titled "The Concept of Folk Musical Instruments and National Musical Instruments in the History of Ethnomusicology," featured unique materials and findings from Professor Morgenstern's extensive research. He discussed various approaches to the classification and study of musical instruments across different cultures. The event was attended by students, graduate students, and doctoral candidates from the "Musicology," "Composition," "Traditional Musical Arts," and "Instrumental Performance" programs, as well as teaching staff of the Conservatory.

The Conservatory extends its heartfelt gratitude to Professor Ulrich Morgenstern for his visit and looks forward to further collaboration, including with the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Special thanks also go to the Almaty Tourism Bureau, Uly Dala and Bank CenterCredit for their support in organizing this event.
