Master class on prevention of suicidal behavior among youth for employees of psychological services of higher educational institutions of Almaty city

On October 2, 2024 within the framework of the project “Safe Environment” a master class was held for employees of psychological services of higher educational institutions of Almaty.

In connection with the recent tragic events that occurred in the city, the issue of ensuring the safety of students has once again become an urgent topic of discussion.

The master class was organized by the Coordinating Council of the Safe Environment Project under the guidance of Sergey Sklyar, Candidate of Medical Sciences, doctor of the highest category, psychiatrist and psychotherapist. During the event, the participants discussed current problems related to suicidal behavior of young people, as well as the necessary measures to prevent it.

The participants got acquainted with instructions and algorithms of actions in situations related to the threat of suicide, as well as methods of identifying suicidal behavior and providing first aid in crisis situations. Among the participants was a psychologist of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory D. Shabdenova, who studied new approaches and methods of work in this direction.

This event was an important step towards creating a safe and supportive environment in educational institutions in Almaty.
